Artists Statement

Art to me is a pure form of communication where I find meaning in using color and symbolism to express feelings. My contemporary art evokes abstract landscapes that avoid a literal image in favor of expressive composition with color, texture and layering. I achieve an interactive “lenticular” effect by manipulating paint to create the illusion of depth, or the ability to change and move as the image is viewed from different angles.  I want the viewer to enter the painting, discover objects within it and come back stimulated by the marginal space between the depiction of nature and abstract imagery. 

 

Bio

Stephanie (b. Mexico) is a self-taught Mexican/American contemporary artist based in the historic Hunters Point Shipyard of San Francisco. She is renowned for her expressionist landscapes, seamlessly merging elements of nature with abstract forms, offering viewers a profound experience of reflection and imagination. Her artistic signature lies in the dynamic composition of her pieces, meticulously crafted through a fusion of color, texture, and layering techniques, culminating in a mesmerizing 'lenticular' effect, which, although challenging to capture on camera, beckons viewers to immerse themselves in her art. Stephanie's impressive portfolio has graced numerous exhibitions and found homes in private collections across the United States, Mexico, and Europe. Her work has been showcased in esteemed venues such as the SFMOMA Artists Gallery and is part of permanent collections at various prestigious institutions, including healthcare, hospitality, and corporate sectors. Notably, she was selected to create a large public sculpture for the SF General Hospital Foundation as part of their renowned Hearts In SF Project.
