ARTISTS STATEMENT

Art to me is a pure form of communication where I find meaning in using color and symbolism to express feelings. My contemporary art evokes abstract landscapes that avoid a literal image in favor of expressive composition with color, texture and layering. I achieve an interactive “lenticular” effect by manipulating paint to create the illusion of depth, or the ability to change and move as the image is viewed from different angles.  I want the viewer to enter the painting, discover objects within it and come back stimulated by the marginal space between the depiction of nature and abstract imagery.

BIO

Stephanie Steiner (b. Mexico City) is a self-taught Mexican-American contemporary artist celebrated for her emotionally resonant expressionist landscapes. Known for seamlessly blending natural elements with abstract forms, her work invites viewers into a space of contemplation and imagination. Through masterful use of layering, texture, and color, she creates a signature lenticular effect—an atmospheric dimensionality that’s nearly impossible to photograph, yet unforgettable in person.

Her large-scale paintings have been exhibited widely and are held in private and institutional collections across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe. Stephanie’s work has been showcased at venues including the SFMOMA Artists Gallery and acquired into many permanent collections in the healthcare, hospitality, and corporate sectors. She collaborates regularly with renowned interior designers, art advisors, and gallerists, and was selected to create a major public sculpture for the SF General Hospital Foundation’s Hearts in SF project—a piece later acquired by Bank of America and donated to Meals on Wheels.

Based in California, Stephanie works out of Hunter’s Point Shipyard in San Francisco, continuing to explore the interplay between inner landscapes and the natural world.
